Notes

Novello published three excerpts from Raynal's work as commentary to the Rousseau's text he translated. The first was taken from Raynal's volume 6, book 15 (p.225-228); the second covers Raynal's volume 2, book 5 (pp.257-267). The last excerpt concerns Raynal's description of European political context when it published his work, volume 18, chapter 12 on government (pp.370-377). Novello seems to follow the existing Italian translation by Remigio Pupares, who translated the 1775 Genevan edition. However the two texts are not identical thus implying an intervention of Novello on the existing Italian translation.
