Spence was put on trail for sedition in 1801 and sentenced to one year of prison. He published the pieced related to the trial in 1803. The first two edition are in his own Spensonian alphabet. This is the fourth edition, in the English alphabet. It contains reproductions of several of his pamphlets and texts.
