Translator's preface. Barlow praises Brissot for sharing his insightful account of liberty in America with the Europeans, who have a lot to learn from it. Especially the English are in need of such information, since what they think to know about America is mostly wrong. Brissot's observations are better and more judicious than all previous publications on the subject.
