Article in The Argus n. 193, 19 October 1789. Story of René-Auguste Constantin de Renneville who was held captive in the Bastille for eleven years at the beginning of the 18th century. According to the article the reason for his captivity was a poem he wrote which (mildly) ridiculed king Philip V of Spain and King Louis XIV of France under the names Quinte and Quatorze. Article suggests this was an excessive punishment. The original poem and its translation are rendered alongside.
