Notes
This translation of Abbe Sieyes' summary of the key points of the draft constitutional document, which was presented to the Constitutional Committee in July 1789, includes a preface and explanatory notes by the anonymous translator. It appeared alongside other documents published by the Massachusets Magazine during this period, in the context of its engagement with French philosophy and radicalism. These included the serialization of Murray Judith Sargent's [Constantia] 'On the Equality of the Sexes', written much earlier in 1779.
