D'Alton's translation can be found in the Archives Nationales (Vincennes) under GR/1/M/1420 ('Projets de descente', no.4: en Irlande), dossier 91, p.1-8.

Sylvie Kleinman points out that Emmet's uncertainties over his dealings with France's military elite were exacerbated by his "regular and frequently tense dealings with his main bilingual interlocutor, adjutant-general Alexandre Dalton", whose English was quite poor according to several sources, including Theobald Wolfe Tone. Klein notes how the translation, which is more literal than stylistic, is dotted with awkward anglicisms (p.292ff).
