Summary (extracted citations)

P. ix-x: 'The following little work entitled, the second part of The Ruins, or a Survey of the Revolutions of Empires, by Mr. Volney, was published some years ago in France; and appears from the title it then bore of "Catechism of a French Citizen", to be intended as a national manual of ethics. It has since that time been revised, and published, in America, and in England, under the title of "The Law of Nature", and is considered by Mr. Volney, as the second part of his Revolutions of Empires'.
