Notes

The Italian translation was published in two different issues of the Milanese journal Il monitore universale (n.20, pp.158-160; n.21, pp.166-167). The author of the Italian translation added in brackets and italics his comments trying to show how the Italian and French situations were similar when it came to the world of art. The aim was to promote exhibition of republican art in the Cisalpine republic following the French example set by David.
