Ranza explained to his readers that the constitutional text was not well-known in Italy thus making an Italian translation much needed. However Ranza, a convinced democrat and strong support of the democratic dimensions of the 1793 constitution, ironically pointed out that things had been improved with the constitution of year III (1795).
