Notes

First publication in book form of Vaughan's translation of Turgot, previously published as journal instalments.

The translation has relegated some of the main text in the footnotes and been extended with a long discussion of "les économistes" (referring to the group of French economic thinkers known as the Physiocrats). See De Vivo & Sabbagh, "The First Translator in English of Turgot’s 'Réflexions sur la formation et la distribution des richesses': Benjamin Vaughan", in History of Political Economy (2015) 47(1): 185-99.
