The novel Robinson Crusoe contains important point of social critique, including humanitarian and abolitionist points of view. Labaume was a well-known radical author and translator. In 3 vols. It includes a 'Vie de Daniel De Foe' written by Labaume. Translation reprinted several times in the 19th century. Several older translations existed, the oldest dating from 1720.
