Catherine-Michelle Chauchat was the daughter of the haberdasher and stationer, Jacques Chauchat. She took over her husband Nicolas Desaint's business after his death in 1771. Collaborated on the 'Dictionnaire de Trévoux' from 1775–1788. Shortly before her death, her business was taken over by Claude Arthus-Bertrand.
