Le Bas de St. Amand

Notes
Also known as "Le S.L.B. de St. Amand".
There is very little information known about this translator apart from the facts that he was based in Islington (London), translated two other works in the same year (1788), and unusually, insisted on putting his name on the frontispiece as translator and sometimes doubling up as a bookseller, "se vend chez le traducteur a Islington".
See, for example, the two works by Sarah Trimmer and the 'Rev Mr. Cooper' (Richard Johnson?) listed under the Woman's Print History Project. This enlarged edition of Cooper's popular introduction to English history was originally printed in 1772, reaching 11 editions by 1801. https://womensprinthistoryproject.com/person/3563
