Originally from Sainte Domingue (Haiti), Batillot and his brother worked for the French authorities from 1790, publishing the Moniteur général de la partie française de Saint-Domingue from November 1791 to June 1793. The brothers relocated to Paris in 1795, publishing until 1800 as Batilliot frères, with Pierre-Louis-Sauveur continuing on until 1821.

Pierre-Louis-Sauveur Batilliot décède à Paris en août 1841.
