Notes

François Honnert was born in Sarralbe, near Sarreguemines, Moselle. He was ordained as a priest in the Diocese of Metz; he was also a canon of Douai.

He moved to Paris at the age of 14. According to his carte de sûreté (identity card issued to Parisians during the Reign of Terror) dated 8th October 1792, he was an "homme de loi".

From 1795 to 1802, he worked as a printer/bookseller in Paris. His notable publications include 'Le Nouvelliste littéraire', which he printed until Pluviôse, Republican year 8 (January/February 1800); and Charles Pougens' 'Bibliothèque française', from 1800.

He was named executive secretary of the archbishop of Bayonne, Jacques-Joseph Loison, shortly after 1802.

He died in May 1822.
