Notes
Laurent-Éloi (also spelled Laurent-Éloy) Goujon was officially described as a "distributeur d'ariettes" in 1787, then as a music dealer at the Palais-Royal in 1788 and 1789. From about 1789 he traded as a dry-goods merchant in the (Grande) Cour du Palais-Royal. He started publishing maps in 1793, and from May to June 1794 he published subsidised maps and geographical dictionaries.
In 1801 he started working for the Dépôt de la Guerre, mounting maps onto canvas.
He acquired the stock of bookseller Antoine Jeudy Dugour at the end of 1801/beginning of 1802, and from October 1802 to November 1803 he worked in partnership with bookseller Delaplace. He became a patented (licensed) bookseller on 1st October 1812, with his patent renewed on 15th March 1817. In 1820, he worked as a bookseller for the Duchess of Berry and the Duchess d'Orléans.
He was still active in 1830.
Nb. There may be some historical confusion between Goujon and his son, who traded (seemingly without a patent) exclusively in geographical maps and articles on Rue du Bac from 1812 until at least 1830.
