Abolitionist work. Although the translation is anonymous, and traditionally attributed to Antoine Diannyère (Barbier), Jean-Luc Chappey claims that the translator is Labaume. Includes preface and notes of the translator. Since its publication, many scholars reported the title of Labaume’s translation as 'Réflexions sur l’abolition de la traite et de l’esclavage des nègres', hence not linking it to (and not considering it as being a translation of) Ottobah Cugoano’s Thoughts and sentiments on the evil and wicked traffic of the slavery and commerce of the human species (1787).

The 2009 re-edition of this translation – published before Chappey’s article – does not mention Labaume as the translator. Translation reprinted in 2009 by the publisher La Découverte, edited by Elsa Dorlin
