Irish critic of the British government who worked for Benjamin Franklin during his stay in Paris. After fleeing from Ireland to the US in 1784, he set up a printing shop with the financial help of Lafayette. He published on social and political issues. He imported books published by the Dublin publisher Patrick Byrne into the US.
