Must have appeared before September 1792, when the radical dating changed to 'An 1 de la République'.
An unsigned preface claimed that Paine had sought to explain his political principles to the people in the form of sermons every two weeks and they had arranged with the English publisher for their immediate translations. Unclear whether Johnson misled Desenne to boost the work's resale value or whether Desenne chose to exploit Paine's reputation for his own gain
