Notes
Translation is of the 1st English edition. Translator indicates in an end note that he intends to translate the new edition straightaway. In a letter to Brissot, Williams suggests that his friend Stephen Mornay also intended to translate it (27 Sept 1790). Nicolas Bonneville appropriated Williams' diagrams of constitutional arrangements, without attribution, for his 'De l'esprit des religions' where he invested them with mystical significance.
