Pio planned a translation of Parny's poem in a letter requesting funds for this purpose, which he addressed to Geoffroy, Secretary-General of the Interior Ministry's 'Bureau d'encouragement des lettres', dated 10 Thermidor, An VII (28 July 1799). Pio made his original petition through the deputy, Delaure. See AN (Pierrefitte), F/17/1215-16, dossier 4, p.180.
