Notes

The Ligurian patriot Gaetano Marré, author of other translations from French, quotes an excerpt from Emile (book 2) in his speech on avidity pronounced on 11th March 1798 in the Constitutional Society of Genoa. This translation differs from the Venitian one (included in Biblioteca dell'uomo repubblicano, vol.2, p.49-50). Marré's intervention was published on Circolo costituzionale del Comune di Genova, n.11, p.162.
