Excerpts taken from the 1795 translation of Mercier's Fragments of Politics and History. April 1796, vol. 2, p. 21-22: 'Iron in the hands of man' and 'Primitive right'. Both entries are about just laws in society. Vol 2, p. 105-106: entry 'Chair of St. Peter' criticising the Catholic Church. 24 July 1797, vol. 3, p. 101-103: 'An essay on man', translation of 'De l'homme'. Rousseauist exposé about the origin of society and the general will. In this latter case Mercier is not mentioned.
