Notes
Biographies of Elizabeth Ryves mention her translation of 'The Social Contract' around the same time. We assume it is this one.
Ryves' preface to her translation of 'A Letter from the Abbé Raynal to the National Assembly of France' (1791, G.G. & J. Robinson) shows that she supported Enlightenment principles, but considered France's current political situation to be a dangerous state of anarchy.
