Notes
Rabaut calls upon England to conserve peace with France. It is a call for a friendly alliance between both countries, grounded in the principles of a free constitution, and responds to the Burke, Wollstonecraft, Paine debate in Britain at the time. Although written in French, it is for an English readership.
Translated after the king's flight to Varennes (21 June 1791).
