Notes
Apprenticed to the publisher William Strahan from 1754 to 1761, and takes over Strahan's business in 1781. His own printshop burnt down in 1769. Works in collaboration with his sons Charles and Williams from 1790 until his death in 1795 when they take over his publishing operation.
