Notes
After Thomas Cadell's retirement, the firm passed to his son Thomas Cadell (the Younger), and a carefully chosen business partner, William Davies. It was Cadell the Younger who famously dismissed an early draft of Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' in Nov 1797, as "Declined by return of post".
