Philippe Denné, also known as Denné ainé, was active in Paris from 1788. He was the paternal uncle of Guillaume Denné, who worked under his supervision.

Philippe was sent to the Bastille on 10th April 1788 for publishing the revolutionary pamphlet 'Bien né. Nouvelles et anecdotes. Apologie de la flatterie', then transferred on 15th August to Saint-Lazare Prison, before being released three months later. Until 1794 he published works related to the events of the Revolution, and he worked in partnership with François I Charon in Paris between 1793 and 1794.

He moved to Madrid around 1811, where he set up a new bookshop, the Librería europea. A "Denné hijo" ("Denné son"), assumed to be his nephew Guillaume, was also declared active in Madrid.

Philippe Denné was still active in Madrid in 1827.
