Notes

Destefanis started as a bookseller in Turin then moved to Lyon. Here he entered the printing shop of Aimée Vatar whose activity was run by his son-in-law Charles François Millanois. During the siege of Lyon Destefanis accused his employer of federalist sympathies and for this accusation Millanois was arrested and executed. Destefanis became the official printer of the Rhône department. In 1796 he moved to Italy again and in Milan founded the Stamperia Destefanis from 1802 to 1828. This printshop was at the address where before it was active the Stamperia Italiana e Francese a San Zeno (San Zeno 534, Milan). Some information on Destefanis are in Milan State Archive, Studi parte moderna, Commercio, 347. For more biographical information, see https://data.cerl.org/thesaurus/cni00011067
